Dear Exhibitors, Convention Attendees and TAMB Members:
For the past three days, the TAMB Board and Convention Committee have been closely monitoring Hurricane Ike to ensure that its path would not endanger the safety of our convention attendees. As evidenced by hurricanes of this season, no one can predict for certain where the hurricane will strike. However, recent reports indicate the hurricane’s track has shifted to a more northerly course.
The TAMB Board is very concerned that this track could move Ike closer to the Houston area, causing the weather in Houston to deteriorate. The information that we have received is that the City of Houston is not likely to order a mandatory evacuation. However, the Board has decided to cancel this event. We hope this news reaches you in time to adjust your travel plans.
We realize that your next question might concern a potential conference refund. Unfortunately, first we must review the charges that we might incur from hotels, show decorator, audio visual company and other vendors, while at the same time we pursue a claim with our insurance company. In the past, the insurance company has asked us to hold all refunds until the claim has been settled, which will be a minimum of 90 – 120 days. The TAMB office will inform everyone by email as soon as we assess the situation.
We apologize for any inconvenience and we will do everything possible to protect the interests of our association and members. Continue to monitor the website for further updates.
We want to thank you for your continued support of TAMB.
Sincerely,
The TAMB Board and Convention Committee
